When I finished my article 'The Warlock's Hairy Heart', I came to the conclusion that the Warlock's biggest issue is his confrontation with one of the seven Sins of man. The one temptation that he tried to get away from was the Sin of Lust. If the sin of Lust exists in his story, being also a story of morals, the 7 sins exist as well. In the books, Harry Potter must come face to face with a villain named Voldemort and in his 6th year, Horcruxes are introduced which, in theory by Albus Dumbledore, Tom split his soul into 7 pieces and placed them in 7 objects that he felt close to. The 7 being connected to Hogwarts, his home. The Locket of Slytherin, The Cup of Hufflepuff, The Diadem of Ravenclaw, .. he could not have the sword as he was not worthy enough, he used his Dairy, Nagini was also imbued with his soul, His father's ring, and, accidentally, Harry himself. But lets say these 7 sins are demons as that is the form of the sins. Harry being Greed with both himself and Voldemort, the locket is Gluttony for anger is hunger, and so on and so forth. When it comes to religion, there are in fact students from all religions like the Jewish community, which Dean Thomas is. In this case, Demons are very much present as demons. In a similar fashion, Death is often seen rather or not he is Death in the story of the three brothers. So if Death was there, then he is a wandmaker. If Demons exists, then there is Devil. That is my theory. But if The Devil exists, then could he be a Dark Wizard? Could he be Gellert Grindelwald?
The moment in thought was Protego Diabolica, in which the audience sees a Demonic Dragon. Upon seeing it I think of the dragon in Middle-Earth. I previously said it could be his Patronus of a form, but it is Fiendfyre. I then assumed it means something about Grindewald that is within himself. Voldemort has a Snake, could be obvious, but isn't. He chose a snake as a representation, in the same way, he chose his house once he knew his family. A snake represents a person who is a backstabber, a person of mistrust under the skin of lies that is good. Tom Riddle skinned himself into the man Voldemort. He was handsome, smart, trusted but within was a man who was full of hate, and violence. Similarly, a scorpion could be seen. Now I am not saying Grindelwald is a demon in literal, but he has similar attributes.
Demons represent wrongful yet righteous acts. Grindelwald himself does wrong acts that are righteous "for the greater good". He wants wizards to live the life they are meant to live from the rules of the government. In the second film, Grindelwald brings up love, to love who they want to love. The American Government does not support the marriage between No-Maj and wizardkind.
I also want to bring up the love relationship between Albus and Gellert. Rowling said Albus loved him but Gellert did not feel the same for Albus. I find that hard to believe. Grindelwald grew up with Albus planning on similar acts of muggle domination, both obsessed with the Deathly Hallows. So both had similar notions and likes, but opposites attract. Now Grindelwald loved Albus but he pushed love away to not give in to lust. To quote someone I know in discussion: "Love is the purest form of energy given. Once that threshold is crossed, it loses some of its purity."
The idea that Rowling saying he did not is a rule of storytelling. If one is set to find something or to destroy it then one must do the opposite. So if Albus loves Grindelwald, Grindelwald does not feel the same. In fact, she said he does love him in the same way. If Gellert tried to push the sin away, it would have his character be more rounded. It is a forbidden love story.
Let's look at the idea of demons. When people saw the Jersey Devil, people compared the descriptions to a Tarot card of a demon and therefore say its a demon. When Leonardo Da Vinci's flying invention flew, it was up in flames, and therefore say its a demon. Dragons, I think, are associated with Demons. Some people view the Bible, the Quran, THE BIG BOOK, as an allegory and not literal. The Idea that Demons came from Dragons can't be that far off. However, Dragons are an allegory of Dinosaurs which some also think is a lie. So, what we saw was a demon, THE DEMON. The Demon is a major evil of the world and Grindelwald is the Darkest Wizard ever.
He has the immense power of Transformation and Persuasion In my theory he could alter the DNA of animals and he is a seer that, given his two-colored eyes, could see the future and he uses the Hookah to share that future. (Turns out that was a Johnny Depp Original).
A snake, in the biblical sense, is Lucifer Morningstar; a fallen angel. Which might not be what Voldemort is but he did fall in a sort of way before becoming someone else. So in this case he is Lucifer, isn't he "the boy who made al the wrong choices"? One might say he Rechristianed himself. Tom "Lucifer" Morningstar Riddle. Grindelwald did not even change his name, but his name was already fearful.
Let's look at Gellert Grindelwald (from my own memory): Born in 1883, he attended Durmstrang Institute as a student and learned Dark Arts. He practiced the magic on several students in experiments his "crimes". He met Albus at some point and got along instantly as if it was love at first sight and planned on Muggle Domination and even talked about the Deathly Hallows. Grindelwald sees it as real from the story, or as I think he saw it as a belief, a religion. Aberforth, Albus's brother, hated and did not trust Gellert. Albus continued to focus on studies while Aberforth took care of Ariana. Kendra, their mother did not want her to be known because she could not control her magic. The father, Percival, also helped her by killing muggles who harmed her. He went to prison. Albus saw the wrongs in his thoughts and actions and tried to change it all but Gellert didn't want to alter his path. A blood pact was performed to never fight. In 1899, Both along with Aberforth fought together. Ariana was caught in the middle and her magic exploded, killing the mother and herself. Something Albus blamed himself for. Gellert would then find the Elders Wand and fleed to America for 26 years as a disguised Auror, Percival Graves ( i think he took the name of Albus's father and knew of one named Graves in America. Caught and escaped the Magical Congress in 1927, he went to Paris to find Credence, who was told is actually Aurelius Dumbledore. Years later, in 1945, Albus and Gellert fought in a war, or rather it might have been no war at all as a white flag was waved suggesting surrender. I think then, Albus gave him the allowance to live his own Prison in Nurmangrad as a form of Hospitality and knew as much as Grindelwald did that Azkaban is easy to escape from so allowed what Grindelad wanted, Him staying in his own prison. Unless the Minister was providing a cruel joke to him. In 1998, he was killed by Voldemort who refused to tell him where the Elder wand was after years of reevaluating his life and his actions.
The Blood pact suggests in 1899, the battle was not really a fight or, due to the blood pact, an explosion occurred sitting off Ariana. As it was noted that there was lots of noise and screams and she could not bear it.
The blood pact also reflects a thought of my own regarding God and the Devil and that both were one and the same in one blood, but all the evil was taken out in a form of its own. I am not saying Albus represents God, even thou he ended up as Death. His physical appearance does reflect it. Both are also Polar opposites of the same design.
The Question is What would it mean to see a Demon for Gellert Grindelwald?
Gellert is Lucy and Voldy is Stan. In short: it's a transformation from good to evil. (Even if Nagini or Salazar are simply Voldy marks) Gellert in his final moments choose the good. Here's the interesting part: God will destroy Satan at the Final Judgement. Gellert choose the good, what will happen??
They both suffered more or less, but I, personally, don't think it's about their suffering, I believe it's more about a person's courage and what they do to come to the surface.
Gellert proves he can change Voldy would prefer to go down with his ship
