Demonic Forces in "Harry Potter"

Horror is a popular genre of stories that span numerous branches of subgenres. Oftentimes, a Horror is about the human body and its capabilities in death. In this case, it would be a slasher. Other times Horror is about the mind of a person, this makes it psychological. Typically, a horror, in general, is the fear of someone who is attacking a family. This is a robbery, a murder... Horror is a position of fear.

One horror is the presence of the unknown and unseen as spirits, ghosts, poltergeists.

Then we get the horror of biblical proportions. Demons. Angels.

But do Demons exists in "Harry Potter"?

Professions are based on what muggles have in daily life but not all professions are exact. Archeologists don't exist, but akin to is the Cursebreaker. Lawyers don't exist as witches have to defend themselves. Demonologists?

Why not explore a Demonic story angle of the wizarding world?

Let's talk of the concept of Death.

Death is only the Beginning

Death is a natural part of life and many accept it as such to the point where people live life with risks. In "Harry Potter", Death is a physical being in a fairy tale written by a bard named Beedle in the story of Three Brothers. Rather or not they met Death is very much ambiguous in the fantasy world. If they met Death, as Albus says, he is the first wandmaker. But he also made a Resurrection Stone that brings the dead back. only one can't bring the dead back. There is no spell for such a thing. The Stone merely REVEALS the dead who is always beside the user.

A Poltergeist is merely a force created by others. Peeves is a known poltergeist who was manifested by the troublesome and mischievous acts of students. Therefore, he is not a spirit.

Ghosts exist and they walk among the school of Hogwarts, but to be a ghost means unfinished business, or in the case of Wizarding World they have done something they cant move on from, something vile and gruesome.

As for Spirits, I can look at one such creature based on the Will-of-the-Whisp lore, the Hinkypunk. It is not a beast as it is not seen nor mentioned in Newt's book. They are smoky figures who drag a lantern wherever they go. 'Course than a poltergeist, Boggart, and Dementors are such spirits.

If one can't bring the dead back, then what of Inferi?

Corpses and Slaves

Dementors are in fact human-like creatures with cloaks. But if you remove the cloak, you may see a body of a human. Theoretically, they were once alive as a human before being a creature at death.

Inferi is a corpse, but the corpse is a body of a dark witch or wizard that is only bought back through an accord by a dark wizard. Ultimately they are slaves to do one bidding. They are not in any way infatuated with a Zombie for a Zombie is not part of the European myth but American. In HPSS, Professor Quirrel mentions an encounter with a zombie after traveling to meet an African Prince. This prince, who asked him to rid of the zombie, was the one who bought the zombie in the first place to mock him. The Prince was a trickster. My theory is that this prince is John the Conqueror who was a slave in America. The Zombie is part of the American myth and is considered as a "living dead" like vampires. Alive and Dead. This suggests life after death. A vampire is dead overall.

So there are Spirits, the Undead, Ghosts, and other presences in the world that suggest a walking dead on Earth. This suggests an afterlife of sorts. Spirits are also in tune with Demons and Angels due to an afterlife concept. But if such exists in the Wizarding World, where are they?

Muggles see faeries in the surroundings but Newt suggests that the source of such tale are Doxys.

"The Doxy is often mistaken for a fairy though it is a quite separate species. Like the fairy, it has a minute human form, though in the Doxy’s case this is covered in thick black hair and has an extra pair of arms and legs." -Newt in FBWTFT Book (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Demon#cite_note-HBPF-6)

"The fairy is a small and decorative beast of little intelligence. Often used or conjured by wizards for decoration, the fairy generally inhabits woodlands or glades." Usually seen on a Christmas Tree. If one can see a beast and think it to be something that isn't, could demons merely be a Beast? (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Fairy)

Gildroy Lockheart spoke of "defeating demons" and

"defying beasts". In a simple sense, a demon and angel are good and bad acts and also an appearance. in HBP, Fred spoke of an item he got called Demon Box, which supposedly has one.

But if the Demon is a bad act and projected by form Then they do exist in the form of Beasts. When speaking of Demons, it is referring to animals. One of them is known in "Harry Potter" called a Grindylow, a water demon with tentacles who drowns the victims by pulling it. In "Fantastic Beasts", we are seen of three: a Japanese Oni, a Kelpie, and a Japanese Kappa. one other is a Nogtail ( a pig-like creature) and a Russian Pogrebin (looks like a boy with a huge head).

Muggles seeing this would project a demon in response and so how, could possibly, such a story came to be.

in the end, the characters still are part of religious groups all over the world, and in the angel of beliefs, demons, and angels exist.
