Hogwarts Legacy: A Brief Look at John Brewster's Backstory; an Original Character

Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming video game for PS5, XBOX SERIES X, PS4, AND XBOX ONE...and it's in all consoles really. It is a game that is being released in 2021 by Warner Brothers and Avalance, where you play as your own hero in Hogwarts during the late 1800s.

The character that you create is the most fun and interesting bit of an RPG, which is the game itself being a Third-Person, Adventure, RPG. With any game of its kind, there is the choice of gender, race, and more, but what is not present in the game is a backstory that the player may end up creating that will lead into the game itself. The game is not known in its specifics like wands but there is still a larger atmosphere prior to the story, setting, and set-up, to be filled in.

So, let's take a look at my Orginal Character, a man named, John Brewster.

Before I go into the details of the game's star, I want to detail the overall idea of the family. There are two John Brewster's in the family when it comes to generations between the game's setting of the 1800s to Today. John Brewster in the 1800s shares his name with a relative who went to school in 2002. John Brewster II has a story of his own that spans 7 years, which could easily be set anywhere like Hogwarts, Ilvermorny, or my own original school. Yet the fourth entry is very specific for the world of "Harry Potter". But, John Brewster I was not always known as "Brewster" not even as "John". He had another name prior to his journey to America, his name was Johannes.

At some point in the late 1800s, before the American Civil War, he was in Germany and he was, possibly, not in the best of places. Johannes Doppke was involved in something bad, an Indentured Servant, he agreed to do something for a group to be given a ticket to the new world. The details are unknown to what he had done to get this ticket, but after he was a free man in a free land to pursue a fresh start.

He aborad a ship from Hamburg, Germany, of unknown name, he landed on the free world on the docks of New York in 1861, the year of the American Civil War. He took an apartment room where he settles in and an owl came by. The owl had two things attached; The New York Ghost, a wizarding newspaper in the city. The other was a wand permit, he had ordered a week prior, and well he had help. His wand was from Gregorovich.

Johannes Doppke did not know the land enough but as he looked around the city, and leading to the next city and the next. When he took a room in Detroit, a newspaper landed in his presence of another brand; The Detroit Lutin, named after a demon in the River Rouge. He decided to set shop of his own in the city of Detroit. He built a Brew Garden, a bar in Detroit called the “Kerbold Gambrinus”. The day he finally got it ready to be opened, he reached into his coat and took out a stick, a stick that he reached out to the air and casted an illuminous spell. The place was lit up like a Christmas tree.

The city was busy; America was scarred because of a war that might break out. The war would be triggered by an argument of civil rights among the goblins and house elves of the world. America might only be considering the offer, as they are slaves and untrusted.

Not much else is known of him. With him opening a Brew Garden, people around him refer him to as Brewster, for making such a fine brand of beverage. John the Brewster, they called him, they as in the new friends he made over time of both wizarding and non-magical variety.

He was given a house-elf. The elf can transform into inanimate objects and children. He cant be treated unfairly either or he’ll bring bad luck. One most likely encounters him as a candle or a boy.

People sit and drink beer, and read The Detroit Luten; a newspaper that, over the years, started to branch out in competitive play with the start of its own Quidditch team called The Detroit Rouges.

He did have a wife who gave birth to a son, however, his bar would disappear, taken down from existence.

Interestingly enough, at some point between 1861 and 1899, he was given a letter to a school late in his life to arrive at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During the time he received the letter, he had lost his wand from Gregorovich during his time at the American school where he pursued studies while a bartender in his shop. He did not know why he got a letter to another school, and not just another school, but a school across the ocean in Scotland of all places. So he was left befuddled with questions as a man arrived one day with a carriage, a carriage seemingly being able to fly, he knew well enough of the Jersey Devil yet he could not see if there is a horse or is not too sure if there is one, and could be actually just flying.

The man took his books and layered them upon one another, books upon books upon books as the carriage flew towards the Atlantic and away from the United States. Newly named, and formally as so, John Brewster did not know what lies further ahead in this part of the world where he would need a new wand, pursuing new knowledge, and hopefully, answer a question in need of an answer, Why is he at Hogwarts so late in his life? What secrets does this castle hold that would require a person such as me?

It is currently not known what he did at the school, the wand he had taken, the house he had chosen, but soon it will be revealed in 2021.

Excerpts of this were taken from a previously written piece at a blog called Ocean of Emptiness, where "John" was of another name as Armada Finnr, told of briefly, about his relative Rukh (a name before John Brewster II) also at one point as Mal.
